Louis C. Smith: Ambiguous Places
Guess what the Jung Center is showing now. No really, guess.
Published on August 27, 2008 at 1:42am
Louis C. Smiths paintings are neither here nor there, neither this nor that. Ambiguous Places is a collection of the artists black-and-white works depicting places and objects that could be, but then again may not be. Ribbons of white paint twist and turn against black backgrounds to form marble-like apples, olives and cheese stacked on a small plate or drops of water falling off the lip of a pitcher. Or is it a rose petal? At least, thats what we see. See if your views differ. 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, 9 p.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Through September 29. Jung Center, 5200 Montrose. For information, call 713-524-8253 or visit www.cgjunghouston.org. Free.
Mondays-Saturdays. Starts: Sept. 2. Continues through Sept. 29, 2008
