25th Annual Labor Day Cup

300 boys’ and girls’ soccer teams descend on Houston for one of the largest tournaments of its kind

Kick off your holiday celebrations with the 25th Annual Houston Labor Day Cup sponsored by the Houston Dynamo, along with the Bear Creek and Westside Soccer Clubs. More than 300 teams of young soccer players will swarm over Bear Creek Park during the three-day tournament. Competitive and recreational clubs from across the Southwest will compete in Division 1, Super 2 and Division 2 level play. Houston Dynamo Senior Vice President of Business Development Steven Powell says, “A lot of teams see the Dynamo as the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow as far as where their achievements in soccer can take them, and this is a great way to connect with them.”

The park will be outfitted with a fun zone with games and prizes, and players from the Dynamo, the two-time defending MLS Cup champs, will be on hand to sign autographs and shake hands, but who will be there and when is still up in the air. “With the Dynamo involved not just in the league but also with the Champions League tournament, we’re playing all over the continent right now so it’s hard to say who will appear and when, but we will have first team squad players there,” promises Powell. 7:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. Monday. 3535 War Memorial Drive. For information, visit www.houstonlabordaycup.org. $20.
