Theater District Open House

Once again, the city’s performing arts groups are showing off their goods

By Nick Keppler

Published on August 20, 2008 at 1:40am

You know the drill by now. Today, at the fifteenth annual Theater District Open House, a slew of the city’s performing arts companies and cultural promoters will show off their goods. Reps from Da Camera, Theatre Under the Stars, the Society for the Performing Arts, the Houston Grand Opera, the Houston Ballet, the Houston Symphony, the Alley Theatre and others will all be present for meet-and-greets with performers, mini-performances and, in the case of organizations physically located in the theater district, behind-the-scenes tours. There will also be all the family-friendly extras, including face painting, Buffalo Bayou boat rides and the musical “instrument petting zoo,” an attraction that’s held every year and that, every year, makes us giggle. Noon to 5 p.m. The Theatre District. For information, call 713-658-8938 or visit www.houstontheaterdistrict.org. Free.
